Hamaekake is a traditional Japanese apron that has long been used as work clothes by workers.

The meaning of Homaekake (sail aprons) includes the following:

(1) To prevent dirt and injury
The typical role of the sail apron is to prevent stains and injuries during work. Especially in liquor stores, where the cases for sake bottles used to be wooden boxes, people used to use a sail apron to prevent their clothes from being torn, and also to prevent injuries caused by spikes from those wooden boxes or broken sake bottles.

(2) To protect the waist
