Collection: OSUSUME OF THE WEEK: Tomesode Kimono

There are grades of kimono according to the pattern and material used.

  • Formal: Tomesode and Furisode
  • Semi-formal: Houmongi, Iro-muji and Tsukesuge
  • Casual: Komon and Tsumugi

The term 'Tomesode kimono' refers to the most formal type of kimono that can be worn for formal occasions.   A kimono with a pattern that encircles the hem without being interrupted by the seams at the sides is called a 'Tomesode'.   It has five family crests on the back, both breasts and both sleeves.

The one shown in the photo is a brand-new and top-quality 'Tomesode.'   Please find other kimonos for sale.
